MENTOR, Ohio — The Lake Humane Society is seeking donations to The Angel Fund to help Tank, a loveable 5-year-old pit bull mix, receive much-needed eye surgery.

Tank was brought into the Lake Humane Society after an animal cruelty investigation that determined the dog was likely part of a dogfighting ring.

As a result of the fighting, Tank suffered severe trauma to his left eye, has a swollen and infected front leg, degenerative joint disease in his back legs and bite marks all over his body. The Lake Humane Society said the damage to Tank’s eye is so severe they believe it needs to be removed.

The Lake Humane Society said that despite all that Tank has gone through, he is an “extremely sweet dog who loves to give kisses and enjoys being around people.”

After he is healed, the shelter will work to find Tank a new, and loving, home.

In the meantime, Tank is being treated with antibiotics, pain medications and eye medication in an attempt to prevent it from having to be removed.
