Lorain police capture suspect in New Year's Day homicide

A 42-year-old man is in custody in connection with a homicide that occurred on New Year's Day in Lorain.

Authorities were looking for Marlon Johnson after he was last seen leaving a house on the 800 block of West 22nd Street where a body was discovered. He was taken into custody by police on Jan. 2.

Police responded to the home just before 6 a.m. after receiving a report of multiple shots fired.

As officers were arriving, they noticed several people running from the house. When officers were checking the home for injured residents, they found a man dead with multiple gunshot wounds in the basement.
