WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A 34-year-old man was killed after he became trapped under a vehicle he was repairing, according to the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office.

Members of the Wellington Fire District and Southern Lorain County Ambulance responded Wednesday at around 6:22 p.m. to the 22200 block of Fairgrounds Road in Wellington Township for a man trapped under a car.

Within minutes of the 911 call, first responders arrived and located a 34-year-old man trapped under a two-door Honda.

The man was unresponsive and was pronounced dead a short time later.

A preliminary investigation indicated the man had been working on the Honda while on a mechanic creeper underneath the vehicle.

The Honda had been elevated from the concrete floor by two jack stands and two metal car ramps. At some point within approximately 90 minutes prior to the 911 call, the Honda had shifted backward off of the ramps and jack stands, causing the vehicle to fall on the man.

The man’s identity is not being released until notification of family members has been completed.
