CLEVELAND — Meijer announced Monday the long-awaited opening date for its three new supercenters across Northeast Ohio.
Meijer said its Avon, Mentor and Stow locations will open on Tuesday, May 14. A Meijer Express gas station at the Avon location will open on April 18.
Despite staggering declines for some brick-and-mortar stores across the country, the family-owned, Michigan-based company has continued to find success in a changing retail landscape.
The 155,000-square-foot supercenters will feature produce, meat and dairy delivered seven days a week and a bakery offering bread and other items baked four times daily. The stores will also feature a pharmacy offering the company’s free prescription program, which includes leading oral generic antibiotics with a special focus on prescriptions most often filled for children.
The first day of business at each store will start with a ribbon cutting. The retailer will feature special promotions and events at each store beginning on Sunday, May 19.
Meijer opened its first store in the Columbus area in 1981. Since then, the retailer has opened 39 stores across the state and has employed nearly 10,000 people.
