LORAIN, Ohio — A 13-year-old girl was hospitalized Wednesday after she was caught in the crossfire and shot in the abdomen.
Police responded to East 32nd Street and Denver Avenue where a young girl was shot.
Investigators discovered that a 17-year-old boy was at his home Wednesday when a group of individuals he has had ongoing issues with drove by his home. The teen decided to fire a gun at the car, but missed and struck the 13-year-old girl who was sitting outside on her grandmother's porch.
The 17-year-old was arrested and transported to a juvenile detention facility.
Police said the firearm used in the shooting was found concealed in another house close to where the boy fired the shot.
The 13-year-old victim was taken to a hospital in the Cleveland area for treatment. Her family told police that as of Thursday, she is in stable condition and is expected to recover.
