LORAIN, Ohio — The Lorain County Community Action Agency (LCCAA) partnered with the Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority to distribute free winter coats to children in need.

Any child in Lorain County that’s in need of a coat can pick one up at the LCCAA Bike Shop. Due to COVID-19, LCCAA is offering contactless pickup at the bike shop, 204 West 10th St. in Lorain, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment.

“No one in the county should go without a coat if we can help it,” said Planning and Community Services Director Frank Prihoda in a news release.

There were 2,382 coats on hand at the start of the distribution on Nov. 2.

Coats are available to any child in Lorain County living at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.

All children in LCCAA Head Start families have received coats.

“This year, in bad times, we will be able to help a lot of people and they can use their money for other bills,” Prihoda said.

Those in need of a coat must fill out a coat order form. Click here to access the form.
