EATON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A train struck a commercial truck carrying nine cars on a trailer late Tuesday morning when the hauler passed over a set of railroad tracks.
The crash happened just before noon, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the truck was heading west on State Route 82 just past Cowley Road when the trailer it was towing was struck while traversing the tracks. The train split the trailer in half. The impact sent the nine cars it was hauling crashing through the area.
The truck's driver was transported to a nearby hospital for minor injuries, troopers said. A passenger in the truck was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
Crews remain on scene working the crash site, and as of 4:12 p.m., State Route 82 remains closed. It's unknown when the road will reopen.
The matter remains under investigation.
