Two men were arrested for robbing a convenience store on Leavitt Road in Lorain, police reported.

Lorain police said on Monday at 12:45 p.m., officers went to Jays Mini-Mart, located at 2239 Leavitt Rd., for a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

The suspects were described to police as two men wearing dark clothing and masks. Police were told the suspects forced the store clerk to open the cash register. The suspects, armed with a shotgun, then took an unknown amount of cash and fled westbound.

Police said information led them to a home in the 2200 block of West 23rd Street. Members of the Lorain Police Department SWAT team searched several residences for the armed suspect.

Around 3 p.m., police explained, a Lorain police detective saw the two suspects. They fled on foot, but were caught after a brief foot chase.

One suspect was identified as Rafael Jose Cintron, 26, of Lorain. Two other suspects included a 14-year-old boy from Lorain and a white/Hispanic man.

Evidence found later linked two of the men to the robbery, police said.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
