A vigil was held Sunday night for a 9-year-old boy who was struck by a car while sledding in North Ridgeville. Hedied last week, police said.

The vigil was held on Meadow Lakes Boulevard in North Ridgeville, near the scene of the crash, at 6 p.m. More than 50 neighbors and friends attended the service which included song and prayer.

Drew Hayden was sledding on a hill off Meadow Lakes Boulevard early Tuesday when authorities said he slid into the street and was struck by 44-year-old driver Chris Nagel, who was traveling south with his teenage son in the car.

The boy was taken to St. John West Shore Hospital, and then taken by Life Flight to MetroHealth Medical Center. He died of his injuries on Friday.

On Saturday, classmates family and loved ones gathered for a prayer vigil for the 9-year-old in Amherst.
