LODI, Ohio — Lodi police said a man accused of trying to get into several vehicles died after running into the Black River.
Police said they received a call around 1:30 a.m. Sunday about a man trying to get into several vehicles around the village.
The officers located the man, and chased him throughout the village.
While chasing the man, officials said he dropped a bag full of what is being investigated as stolen property from cars.
The man ended up in the Black River.
Officials called the Lodi Fire Department and Swift Water Rescue team to locate the man.
Due to the weather conditions, the search was put on hold until morning, according to police.
When they resumed the search, they found the man's body on the 100th Block of Black River tangled with a tree in the river, according to police.
The identity of the man is unknown.
