UPDATE: The Medina Agricultural Society-Board of Directors voted to rescind its decision and the fair is back on for its original dates this year.
Previous story:
During an emergency meeting of the Medina Agricultural Society-Board of Directors, a decision was voted on and approved to postpone the Medina County Fair until next year due to COVID-19 concerns.
The board made the decision after examining the Responsible Restart Ohio and County Fair guidelines issued by the state. After considering the ability to follow said guidelines while being able to move forward financially and keep fairgoers, staff and exhibitors healthy and safe, the decision to postpone was made.
Board members said the decision was a difficult one considering the impact the postponement will have on the Jr. Fair Exhibitors and the community, and they are hopeful those impacted by the decision will be understanding.
This year would have been the Medina County Fair’s 175th season.
The 175th anniversary of the fair will now be celebrated in 2021 and plans for next year’s fair will “start immediately,” the board said.
