MEDINA, Ohio — The 5th annual Raymond Biegel Memorial Softball Tournament to raise money to support Special Olympics Ohio Medina County will take place on May 11.

The event starts at 8 a.m. at Blakslee Fields, located at 3718 Weymouth Road in Medina.

The fundraiser will also feature a DJ, food, live auction, silent auction, Ray raffle, 50/50 drawing, cornhole and more.

Event organizer Bill Biegel told News 5 the event is crucial, because Medina County Special Olympics doesn't receive government funding and completely relies on donations.

For more information on the event and how to get involved can be found on the Medina County Special Olympics website.

Program leaders told News 5, "the mission of Special Olympics Medina Ohio is to provide year-round sports training and competition."

"Our program starts with children age 8 to adults with intellectual disabilities. By using a variety of Olympic-type sports, our athletes are given continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness."

In the event of bad weather, the tournament will be relocated to The Medina County Achievement Center, located at 4691 Windfall Road in Medina.
