A Medina community is remembering a pregnant mother of two who was found dead Monday in what police are calling a murder suicide.

Julia Young, 36, was found face down with an apparent stab wound inside her Red Oak Circle home around 2:00 p.m. Monday. She was about six-months-pregnant.

Police think Cedric Jones, 43, of Ravenna, killed Young before killing himself. The pair had been in a relationship, but as of Tuesday night, News 5 had not confirmed if Jones was the father of Young’s baby.

On Tuesday, loved ones lined Young’s street with purple and pink ribbons; pink in remembrance of her slain baby girl and purple in honor of domestic violence victims.

Family and friends are also planning to take part in a vigil on the Medina Square Friday night at 7:00 p.m.

In a horrifying 911 call that lasted more than five minutes, Young’s mother can be heard begging first responders for help, moments after discovering her daughter’s lifeless body. Her grandson can be heard crying in the background. News 5 has chosen not to post or broadcast the call in it’s entirety because of its graphic nature.

When reached Tuesday, Young’s father Phillip Duke said Jones did not want the baby. Duke also added that his daughter had once volunteered in a battered women’s shelter.

A Medina Police spokesman said he was awaiting further details from the coroner before commenting further on the case.

Tuesday, a neighbor remembered Young as a loving mother.

"She was very involved with her kids and was always out in front and the kids played in her yard,” Heather Febus said.

“It just doesn't seem real. It’s so sad and just the thought of what has to be going on with the boys is just…terrible. It’s just awful.”
