A 911 call released by Streetsboro police sheds a little light on the horrifying moments following the shooting death of an 11-year-old boy.
"Something terrible has happened. I'm babysitting two kids, " the caller told the 911 operator. "There's blood everywhere."
Streetsboro police were called to a house on Alden Drive around 10 p.m. They found the victim in a bedroom.
The caller told authorities the 11-year-old went to bed around 8:30 p.m. and his 13-year-old brother went to bed a short time later.
"I heard a pop, and I ran back here. The other boy came out and said 'what was that' and I ran in here," the caller said.
The babysitter told the operator the younger boy had a hole in his neck and something in the room smelled like gunpowder.
"He's got blood just pouring out of his mouth. I don't think he's breathing," she said.
The babysitter performed CPR on the 11-year-old until police arrived. The child was taken to University Hospitals Portage Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound.
According to a police report, the boy's 13-year-old brother ran from the house after the shooting but was located by officers nearby.
Investigators said it appears the younger boy was shot by his 13-year-old brother in what "appears to be a premeditated act" with a handgun taken from their grandfather's home.
