Stow police are investigating after an elderly man was fatally hit by a truck in a business parking lot on Monday.
Shortly after 5 p.m., EMS responded to a crash involving a pedestrian near a grocery store at 4431 Kent Road in Stow.
An 86-year-old man identified as James W. Skeese, of Stow, was found unresponsive in the parking lot. He was taken to Akron City Hospital where he later died, police said in a news release.
An investigation revealed he was walking in the parking lot when he was struck by a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling northbound through the lot.
Police said the driver of the truck was a 19-year-old man from Kent. He remained at the scene and is currently cooperating with the investigation.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
