Free pop-up COVID-19 testing coming to Rootstown

ROOTSTOWN, Ohio — The Ohio National Guard, along with the Portage County Health District and the Portage County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, is providing free COVID-19 testing in Rootstown on three different dates.

The pop-up testing will be available to anyone who would like to be tested and will take place at Northeast Ohio Medical University.

No health care provider referral is needed but anyone under the age of 18 will need the signed consent of a parent or guardian.

The pop-up testing is drive-up only and walk-ups are not permitted. An appointment is not required, health officials said.

Health officials said quantities may be limited.

The testing will take place on the following days:

  • Tuesday, July 21—9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 23,—1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 25,—9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Northeast Ohio Medical University is located at 4211 St. Rt. 44 in Rootstown.

The drive-up testing will be conducted in Campus Parking Lot B, on the south side of the campus.

To access the testing stations, enter the campus from Tallmadge Road and onto Lorretta Drive. Those exiting must use state Route 44.
