The Portage County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man was arrested in connection with the death of a 1-year-old boy over the weekend.
Nicholas J. Catazaro, 26, of Windham, was charged with one count of murder, a felony of the first degree.
On Saturday, sheriff's deputies responded to the 9800 block of Bayberry Lane in Nelson Township for reports of a child not breathing.
The 1-year-old boy was given CPR and was taken to University Hospitals Portage Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, the sheriff's office confirms.
Preliminary findings from an autopsy report conducted by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office shows the boy had a fractured skull.
A criminal complaint alleges Catazaro threw the boy against a wall, causing his death.
Catazaro was booked into the Portage County Jail and will be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The investigation is ongoing. No further information was released at this time.
