STREETSBORO, Ohio — About 100 people left Streetsboro Friday morning to take the long, nearly 16-hour drive, to Nebraska to bring supplies to farmers devastated by the recent flooding.

Farmers in Nebraska and the Midwest are currently dealing with the aftermath of record-shattering floods.

Many lost livestock and crops. The Farm Bureau estimates that the flooding caused more than a billion dollars in damage to farms.

The Ohio Relief Haulers, a group made up of farmers, decided they needed to do something to help.

“In this country we are all neighbors,” said Travis Hamlin with the group. “It doesn’t matter how far away you are, we are going to come help you. If you need help we are going to do our best to stick together and help you in the farming community.”

They say it’s about farmers helping other farmers. The group is bringing 52 trucks jam-packed with supplies.

“It is 100% on everybody’s fuel money, the hotel, hours, everything like that, is all 100 percent donated,” said Hamlin.

The supplies include 132 square bales of hay for the livestock, livestock feed, fencing materials and basic necessities for the farmers, themselves, like First-aid kits.

The group is expected to get to Nebraska sometime Saturday. It’s made up of farmers not just from Northeast, Ohio but throughout the state and Pennsylvania, too.
