KENT, Ohio — Kent police are investigating a sexual assault incident that happened near Kent State University campus early Wednesday morning.
A 29-year-old woman told police that she was with a man she knew in the area of Haymaker Parkway and East Main Street when he attacked her and held her against her will, according to police.
The woman said she was sexually assaulted by the man, later identified as 30-year-old Joseph Swaney, of Kent, who fled the scene after the attack, police said.
Police responded to the incident immediately and were able to quickly locate and apprehend Swaney, according to authorities.
The woman was treated a nearby hospital, police said.
Swaney's arraignment is scheduled at Kent Municipal Court Thursday morning, according to police.
