A man walking through a densely-wooded area of Suffield Township in Portage County found a human skull and another bone on Monday afternoon.
A professor was walking in the area when he found the skull and another bone nearby, according to the Portage County Sheriff's Office. Authorities said the second bone was a humerus.
Authorities hope an anthropologist will determine how long the bones have been exposed to the elements, and the size, sex and age of the victim. Then, DNA will be extracted from the bone discovered to attempt to identify the remains, according to deputies.
The sheriff's office said it is currently trying to get all missing persons records from the surrounding area.
No other information on the discovery is available.
