MANSFIELD, Ohio — Mansfield police are investigating an officer-involved shooting.
Police said they received a call before 4:30 p.m. that a man was breaking into an apartment in the 650 block of West Straub Road.
The caller told police be believed the man was intoxicated or under the influence of drugs and it appeared that the man had a box cutter.
When police arrived, they confronted the man, who became agitated, according to police.
Officers deployed their tasers, which had no effect on the suspect.
The confrontation escalated and resulted in the man being fatally shot, according to police.
The officers involved were Officer Matt Davis, Officer Thayne Telquist, and Officer Scott Kotterman.
They have been placed on administrative leave.
None of the officers were injured.
