SHELBY, Ohio — A missing 22-year-old woman was found dead Monday after police questioned her husband and he directed them to a wooded area in Richland County where officers found her body.
The husband, Alec Blair, 21, has been charged with murder. Authorities said that the couple were planning to divorce.
Monday afternoon, Gaberien Clevenger, 22, was reported missing and was said to have been last seen in a jeep belonging to Blair, authorities said.
Police later located the jeep at Blair's workplace and an investigation indicated that a crime had potentially occurred. Blair was brought back to the Shelby Police Department and interviewed by Shelby police and the sheriff's office. Following the interview, Blair guided authorities to a wooded area near Bowman Street and State Route 96 where Clevenger's body was found.
Members of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Richland County Coroner's Office, Shelby Fire Department, and Franklin Township Fire Department responded to the scene. Police said additional evidence was collected from Blair's residence.
Authorities have not released a preliminary cause of death, but said an autopsy has been scheduled.
Blair is currently being held in the Richland County Jail in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
