A Stark County doctor has been indicted for operating an alleged “pill mill” at his Jackson Township medical office.
According to the Stark County Prosecutor's Office, a grand jury has issued a 272-count indictment against Frank D. Lazzerini.
The prosecutor said the charges result from Lazzerini’s operation of a “pill mill” at his medical office, Premiere Family Practice on Fulton Drive NW in Jackson Township.
Lazzerini is charged with involuntary manslaughter for the deaths of two of his patients.
He is also charged with one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, one count of telecommunications fraud, one count of grand theft, one count of Medicaid fraud, one count of tampering with records, nine counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs with major drug offender specifications, 81 counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, 89 counts of trafficking in drugs and 86 counts of illegal processing of drug documents.
The Ohio Attorney General's Office Health Care Fraud Unit executed a search warrant at the location in February 2016.
