Marlboro Township Church set on fire, vandalized

Posted

A fire at St. Nikolai Orthodox Church in Marlboro Township has caused tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage.

According to Marlboro Township Fire Chief Matt Anstein, accelerant was used in the fire, windows were broken and other signs of vandalism were apparent.

Chief Anstein says the building suffered $50,000 worth of damage, in addition to $30,000 worth of damage to items inside the building.

Officials say there is a possibility this fire was connected to another church fire in Alliance.

The church reported on its website that no one was hurt in the fire. Services cannot be held in the building until repairs are made, but will be held at another location not yet determined.
