A massive fire broke out at a Canton recycling plant Sunday night, prompting Canton firefighters and other departments to work through the night and into the morning putting out the flames.
Around 10 p.m. Sunday night, half a dozen departments throughout Stark County were called to Slesnick Recycling, 700 3rd Street SE, to get the fire under control.
The Canton Fire Department said the fire started in the center of the company's headquarters. Crews were able to stop it before it spread to the newer part of the facility.
The building was filled with paper and cardboard, making it more difficult for firefighters to control the flames.

The company has been in the recycling industry for decades. The owners of the facility were at the scene overnight.
Heavy machinery will be brought in later to tear down the walls so firefighters can reach the hot spots.
