Two men were wounded after an officer-involved shooting that occurred overnight outside of an Akron nightclub.

The shooting happened around 2:20 a.m. Sunday following a large fight outside of Zar Nightclub on South Main Street.

Akron police say their officers responded to the large fight when they observed two men threatening other patrons and officers with a firearm.

That’s when an officer fired shots at the suspects. Police say shots were also fired at the officers.

Police say 21-year-old Latrent Redrick and 23-year-old Jamon Pruiett were both transported to Akron City Hospital in serious condition.

Police say Redrick was shot by the officer. Shots were also fired at Pruiett as he ran away.

Pruiett is charged with felonious assault on a peace officer and Redrick is charged with two counts of inducing panic.

BCI is assisting in the investigation.

Akron police say they recovered a handgun near one of the shooting victims.

The shooting is still under investigation.
