BARBERTON, Ohio — The department for parks and recreation for the city of Barberton announced Wednesday it’s canceling the remainder of the Summer Concert Series, the Walk of Fame event and Labor Day fireworks and parade after considering guidelines from the health department and Gov. Mike DeWine’s office.
The city also said the committee organizing the Barberton Labor Day weekend BBQ and Music Fest is canceling the event out of concerns for the coronavirus pandemic.
“Although this is disappointing for all of us, our top priority has always been the safety of the public, the performers, our vendors, volunteers and employees. We will be back bigger and better than ever in 2021 and look forward to joining you for concerts, the Walk of Fame event, and Labor Day events at that time,” the city said in a post on Facebook.
Organizers said they will monitor the coronavirus pandemic and will make a decision on the Mum Festival in the coming weeks.
Regardless of the outcome of the actual festival, organizers said there will be mum gardens and potted mum sales at Lake Anna for all to enjoy this fall.
