TWINSBURG, Ohio — A Cleveland police captain is under review following an incident that occurred on Interstate 480 on Christmas night.
On Dec. 25 around 11:21 p.m., Twinsburg police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a possible drunk driver in the eastbound lanes of I-480, according to Twinsburg police.
Officers located a vehicle matching the description of the reports stopped on the side of I-480, police said.
The driver, a Cleveland police captain, was the sole occupant of the vehicle and showed signs of impairment, according to Twinsburg police.
“I just want to understand what I’m being charged with,” the police captain can be heard saying to officers on bodycam footage during the stop.
A Twinsburg officer can be heard responding to the captain, saying “You’re not being charged, we’re trying to release you but the longer you stay here the more of a problem we’re having.”
Twinsburg officers towed the captain’s vehicle and then allowed him to call his wife for a ride home, police said.
An internal review will be conducted to determine whether or not the Twinsburg police officers who responded to the incident followed department policy, according to Twinsburg police.
The Cleveland police captain has not been charged with a crime at this time.
