SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — You know how you need a driver's license to drive? Well, your dog needs one too, although theirs isn't to operate a motor vehicle.

Dog licenses are used to help dogs find their way home if they get lost.

Licenses for dogs go on sale across the state on Dec. 1, but you need to buy them within your county.

The cost for a single-year license in Summit County is $18.

The deadline to get a license is Jan. 31.
