Bond was set at $1 million for the man accused in the Memorial Day stabbings of his parents, leaving the father dead and the mother hospitalized.

28-year-old Michael A. Clark appeared in Stow Municipal Court on Tuesday morning charged with murder.

Macedonia officers were dispatched to a home in the 8900 block of Griswold Circle Monday morning after 58-year-old Audrey Roberson called 911 to report she and her husband, Joe Clark, had been attacked by their son.

Joe Clark, 62, was found dead in a bedroom. Police said his throat had been slit.

Roberson was taken to Summa Akron City Hospital after being beaten and stabbed. Police expect her to survive.

Michael Clark was apprehended by a state trooper Monday afternoon in Columbiana County, police said. He had driven away from Macedonia in his father's truck.

Police records show 39 call for service to the home since 2009. Michael Clark was arrested by Macedonia police five times, including three domestic violence incidents that date back to 2010.

Officers, neighbors and prior police reports all indicate he has serious mental health issues.

He has received various sentences over the years, including probation, jail time and placement into a mental health court program that aims to reduce recidivism among those with mental illness.
