An accident involving a semi-truck on the Ohio Turnpike Friday left one person dead.
A 2014 Ford Fusion was driving eastbound on the Turnpike when it went off the left side of the road and almost hit the cement median, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol. When the Fusion came back on the road, it crossed three lanes of traffic and was hit by a semi-truck driving in the same direction.
Troopers say the semi hit the Fusion on the passenger side. The semi drove off the right side of the road and the Fusion stopped on the right side of the road near the guardrail.
The driver of the Fusion — 25-year-old Jarrod T. Mochnick of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania — died as a result of the crash. The driver of the semi sustained minor injuries.
The crash is still under investigation.
