A $2 million bond has been set for the New York man accused of stealing a truck, then running over and killing its owner at a rest stop over the weekend.
Paul Randall Jr. appeared in court for his arraignment on Tuesday. Randall is charged with murder and aggravated robbery, the judge stated during his appearance.
Randall was returning with friends from an event in southern Ohio when they stopped at a rest stop along Interstate 77 in Bath Township Friday night. He got into an argument with Scott Reichard, 42, of North Olmsted, according to police.
"From what we know right now, there was an altercation between two individuals," said Lt. Darren Huggins of Ohio State Highway Patrol. "Our suspect in the case threw the victim to the ground, then proceeded to steal his vehicle and run him over and fled to the city of Cleveland."
Troopers said Randall was a passenger in the car being driven by a woman investigators believe is his girlfriend.
Randall led authorities on a manhunt after he fled the scene. He was arrested on Saturday evening along I-70 in Guernsey County.
