AKRON, Ohio — The Summit County Sheriff’s Office needs the public’s help and is asking for book donations for the Summit County Jail.
The library at the jail recently reopened, prompting the need for books of all kinds to stock the shelves, deputies said.
Deputies said that reading is a “fundamental form of recreation that affords inmates the opportunity to pursue a more positive pastime than idle isolation.”
The jail is looking for books on any subject, fiction or nonfiction, hardcover or paperback, according to deputies.
Anyone with books they would like to donate can call Inmate Services Supervisor Rebecca McCutcheon at 330-643-2851 or email her at rmccutcheon@sheriff.summitoh.net.
