A Summit County deputy sheriff has been charged with domestic violence.

Lt. John Grogan was arrested and booked into Medina County Jail.

Grogan currently serves as a lieutenant with the sheriff's office. He previously served as the mayor of Canal Fulton.

The arrest stems from an incident that happened Sunday.

According to the report, Grogan forced his wife onto a bed and attempted to shove a whole egg into her mouth. He also yelled at her and called her names, the report states. She asked him to stop but he refused.

A Summit County Sheriff's Office spokesperson said the department is conducting an internal investigation.
