TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio — Five school districts will allow staff members to carry guns on school property in Tuscarawas County, according to News 5's media partners at the Times-Reporter.
Garaway and Claymont school districts will be joining Newcomerstown, Indian Valley and Tuscarawas Valley in allowing staff members to carry guns.
Garaway's superintendent James Millet said the decision was well received in the district.
In Tuscarawas County, armed teachers have to go through FASTER training, which is provided by the Buckeye Firearms Association. FASTER stands for Faculty/Administrator Safety Training & Emergency Response.
The training takes place at facilities in Medina and Adams counties.
There is a total of eight school districts in Tuscarawas County.
