WOOSTER, Ohio — An Orrville man on Wednesday was sentenced to 15 years to life after a jury found him guilty earlier this month for sexually abusing a 5-year-old girl in December 2017, according to News 5 media partner The Daily Record.
Bryan Peck, 29, was found guilty of one count each of rape, sexual battery and gross sexual imposition in April. The charges stemmed from a 2017 incident when the girl's mother walked into her bedroom and found Peck abusing the girl.
Peck must register as Tier III sex offender, meaning he will have to register every 90 days for the rest of his life when he is eventually released from prison, the Daily Record reports.
Judge Corey E. Spitler acquitted six additional charges against him, two counts of rape, sexual battery and gross sexual imposition after it was alleged that Peck abused the girl twice more between August and December 2017.
Before his sentencing, prosecuting attorney Angela Poth-Wypasek spoke on behalf of the girl and her family.
“Obviously, [the girl] has been greatly impacted by this,” Wypasek said. “She is going to start trauma counseling in May for this. The entire family has been devastated.”
During his trial, Peck denied all the charges and plans to appeal his convictions, according to The Daily Record.
