MILTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle Sunday evening in Milton Township, located in Wayne County, according to a release.
At about 4:55 p.m. on County Road 504 West of TR-73, a 2008 Mercury Sable was heading eastbound on CR-504 attempting to turn into a private driveway when a motorcycle was heading westbound on CR-504. The driver of the Sable failed to stop while turning left and stuck the motorcycle.
The driver and the passenger on the motorcycle were ejected onto the roadway.
The passenger of the motorcycle, Christina L. Troyer, 48, of Creston, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the news release.
The driver of the motorcycle was transported by Canaan Fire Department to Wooster Community Hospital, then later life-flighted to Akron City Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Sable was not injured in the crash. Troopers said the operator of the motorcycle did not have a motorcycle endorsement at the time of the crash.
Neither the driver nor the passenger of the motorcycle were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
Authorities said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
