WOOSTER, Ohio — A 77-year-old woman and her dog died Thursday afternoon after being struck by a car in Wooster.
According to Wooster police, at around 3:19 p.m., the woman and her dog were walking near Melrose and Wildwood drives when a 52-year-old woman in a Mazda CX-3 heading south on Melrose Drive struck them as they entered the intersection.
The 77-year-old woman was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment but later succumbed to her injuries, authorities said. The dog also sustained a fatal injury.
The Mazda's driver did not have any visible injuries, authorities said.
The crash is being investigated by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Wooster police said.
