WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash.

The crash happened Tuesday at 1:45 p.m. on County Road 6 in Wayne Township.

Robert Glessner, 87, was driving southbound on County Road 6, when he traveled off the right side of the road. He got back onto the roadway and crossed the center line, before traveling off the left side of the road.

Glessner then struck a ditch, before his vehicle overturned several times and came to a rest in a field off the left side of the road.

He was partially ejected.

Glessner was transported to Wooster Community Hospital and later taken to Akron General Hospital.

He underwent emergency surgery as a result of the injuries he sustained during the crash. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Troopers said no seat belt restraint was used by Glessner.

This was the second fatal crash in Wayne County this year.
