WOOSTER, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred in Wooster Wednesday evening.

Around 6:19 p.m. Jonathon Hughes, 23, from Cleveland, was driving a 2000 Honda Accord heading east on County Road 30A near Jefferson Road, troopers said.

Hughes failed to negotiate a slight curve and traveled off the right side of the road. He re-entered the roadway but lost control, overcorrected and went back off the road, striking a tree, troopers said.

Troopers said Hughes was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected from his vehicle.

First responders transported Hughes from the scene and he was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center by Metro Life Flight.

Hughes died from his injuries early Friday morning, troopers said.

Troopers believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
