CLEVELAND — The utility companies Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company and Toledo Edison suspended shut-offs for nonpayment of electric bills because of the coronavirus pandemic.
But unless another delay order is issued, shut-off operations could resume in Ohio as soon as September 15.
So FirstEnergy Corp wants to ensure customers dealing with loss of income during this crisis take advantage of assistance programs or payment plans.
The programs may include forgiveness of all or part of an overdue balance.
The Illuminating Company serves 750,000 customers across Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake and Lorain counties.
Anyone with questions can contact its consumer service line at 1-800-686-9901.
