MENTOR, Ohio — The largest Ohio Lottery prize ever won — a $375 million Mega Millions jackpot in December won with a ticket sold at a Mentor Giant Eagle — has been claimed by a trust that lists a Cleveland lawyer as its trustee.
“The Great Hope Trust” and trustee Brian C. Mulhall, esq. claimed the prize and chose the cash option, according to a news release from the Ohio Lottery. The trust will receive $182,555,782 after 28% state and federal tax withholdings.
The winning numbers for the Dec. 17, 2019 drawing were 22, 30, 53, 55, 56 and 16.
The winning ticket was sold at the Giant Eagle at 8383 Tyler Blvd. in Mentor; the store received a $100,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
Trusts provide lottery winners several advantages, including anonymity, asset control and professional management, according to LegalZoom.com. A trust’s trustee manages the trust’s funds at the discretion of the individual or individuals who set up the trust.
