MENTOR, Ohio — An Avery Dennison employee is being hailed as a local hero after he paid a company bonus forward by using it to purchase dozens of smoke alarms for the Mentor Fire Department and even used his lunch break to deliver them.
Dave Ambrose was awarded a financial gift from Avery Dennison, recognizing his 25 years with the company, according to a Faceobok post from Mentor Fire Department. Ambrose, who is a former Mentor-on-the-Lake firefighter, donated all the money to the fire department’s senior smoke alarm program and delivered the 70 smoke alarms he purchased to the fire station during his lunch break.

Mentor fire crews stopped by Avery Dennison on Monday to give Ambrose a token of their appreciation for his selfless generosity: a plaque created and donated by the local Black Lab Leather Co.
