CLEVELAND — As a way to show their appreciation, GetGo Cafe and Market purchased $25,000 worth of cookies from the Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio (GSNEO) to distribute to teachers across the Greater Cleveland area.
GSNEO had its cookie booth sale season cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so the purchase of cookies for teachers will provide support to their organization as well.
GetGo Cafe and Market purchased 5,000 total boxes of a variety of Girl Scout cookies including Tagalongs, Samoas and Thin Mints.
Partnering with Shoes and Clothes for Kids, a Cleveland-based nonprofit that distributes school supplies for students and teachers in Cuyahoga County, GetGo Cafe and Market will provide the cookies that will be available for teachers working remotely to pick up and enjoy.
“What a great show of appreciation by GetGo toward our area teachers,” Terry Uhl, executive director of Shoes and Clothes for Kids, said in a press release. “These teachers have been at the forefront of keeping kids active and educated during the current crisis. We’ve always seen teachers as our first responders. They make a difference in our community every single day. We’re delighted to partner with GetGo on this.”
