SANDUSKY, Ohio — The sunflowers at Maria’s Sunflower Field of Hope at Cedar Point are in full bloom.
The field will be opening on Monday, then daily from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends.
The organization said it expects the Avon field, which has been an anchor of inspiration for childhood cancer survivors and their families, to bloom in September for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, but at the end of the day it’s all dependent on Mother Nature.
The Avon field started by the McNamara family who lost their 7-year-old daughter Maria after she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive tumor called diffused intrinsic pontine glioma.
Maria's Field of Hope at Cedar Point is located next to Cedar Point's Express Hotel, 1201 Cedar Point Drive, on the main causeway entrance to Cedar Point.
