SHEFFIELD, Ohio — The Sheffield Village Fire Department made an adorable rescue Thursday afternoon and the story includes a happy ending.
Around 1:30 p.m., fire crews were called to the 5000 block of Waterford Drive for a report of a kitten that had fallen into a 15-foot vertical drain pipe, according to Sheffield Village Fire.
Employees that worked at the business fire crews were called to said they had heard the kitten’s faint meows coming from inside the pipe.
Fire crews spent several hours working to get the kitten out of the pipe and were eventually successful using a rope technique to pull it out, the department said.
After being rescued the kitten was taken to Avon Lake Animal Clinic for evaluation.
Sheffield Lake Fire Department provided an update after the rescue, confirming the kitten had an even happier ending than just being rescued from the pipe. Lt. Chad Mcallie, who was the main rope handler during the rescue, decided to adopt the kitten, who now had a forever home.
