AVON, Ohio — Avon police and firefighters rescued a golden retriever from an icy pond Monday after it fell through the ice and couldn’t get out.
It happened around 2:25 p.m. at Veterans Park. One officer was the first to arrive on scene and started to remove his shoes and socks to go in the water but was met by firefighters moments later.
Two firefighters put on Ice Commander Suits and went in to rescue the dog. After the animal was pulled from the water, firefighters put it in the fire engine’s cab to warm it up and dry off.
The dog’s owners, who were on scene, later took it home.
Nice job!
