YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — A group in Northeast Ohio brought holiday spirit to babies staying at two local hospitals.

The Loose Knit Group of Mahoning Valley got festive and knitted tiny holiday sweaters for the babies in the Neonatal Intensive care Unit (NICU) at both St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and Akron Children’s Hospital Special Care Nursery.

The sweaters feature a snowman, Santa Claus, a Christmas tree and a reindeer, among other adorable designs.

All of the sweaters were knitted with an open-backed pattern, allowing hospital staff easy access to any wires or tubes the babies in the NICU might use.

The Loose Knit Group’s sweaters are just the latest donation the group has made to Akron Children’s Hospital. Over the years, the group has made thousands of blankets for the children treated at Akron Children’s Hospital.
