UPDATE: The man has been found safe, according to Barberton police.
The Barberton Police Department was searching for a missing 79-year-old man with Alzheimer’s disease.
The man left his residence in Barberton around 5:20 a.m. on foot and did not return, police said.
A Missing Adult Alert was issued for Summit, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Medina, Portage, Stark and Wayne counties in an attempt to locate the man.
Because he was on foot and has Alzheimer’s disease, police said they were concerned for his safety.
