Buying diamonds on a budget

Diamonds might bring a smile to everyone’s face, but if you’re thinking about buying your significant other some lavish piece of jewelry this holiday, your budget doesn’t have to be so extravagant.

From silver to gold and gemstones to diamonds, Becky Zimmerman of Shane Company said there is an array of styles for any budget. Zimmerman said you have to be smart with what you buy.

“So with sterling silver you can definitely find great gifts $100 or less. When you get into the golds it gets a little bit more but you can still stick with $500 or less, but depending how many diamonds you have of course that can go up," she said.

If you’re wanting to make diamonds your best friend this year, Rordan Shane, the president of Shane Company, suggests choosing a more delicate necklace with smaller diamonds.

“The next piece here in the middle is a really pretty piece as well. It's framed with diamonds and it’s actually engravable so you can put her first initial," Shane said.

Shane says, pieces like that will set you back anywhere from $300 to $400 dollars.

If the price of diamonds are still not in your budget or you’re simply looking for something unique, Zimmerman suggests a gemstone.

“A gemstone is something with color. It is what we consider a semi-precious stone so they are more affordable," Zimmerman said.

Gemstones are popular at Shane Company because their stones are all natural. When gemstones are natural and not made from a lab, they are more vibrant in color.

No matter what piece of jewelry you chose remember it’s a timeless gift that will last a lifetime.
